MY JOURNEY TO YOGA AND SOUND

Nancy Trueman

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

Steve Jobs

Many people ask me how I found my way into yoga and sound healing. The truth is, it's been a lifelong journey-one shaped by curiosity, travel, and a deep reverence for the healing arts. Over the years, my path has woven together creative expression, wellness, and a desire to hold space for others. Academically, I hold a BA in Visual Arts (Canada), an MA in Arts Administration (Australia), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Media (Hong Kong). My passion for the arts guided much of my early career and eventually brought me to Asia, where I spent over two decades—15 of those years in Hong Kong.

Living in Asia gave me profound exposure to ancient mindfulness and wellness traditions. It was in this environment that my journey into sound began. I studied the Gong at Red Door Studio in Hong Kong, and from that moment, everything shifted. Today, I integrate my background in the arts with my training in yoga and sound to other practices that are rooted, restorative and resonant. Whether through movement, stillness or vibration, my work os about guiding others back to themselves— with presence and compassion.
